LocalShare is built from the ground up on a zero-knowledge, local-first architecture. Your files, metadata, and personal data never touch external servers, databases, or cloud providers.
1. Information We Do NOT Collect
LocalShare operates without accounts, logins, telemetry, or remote servers. Specifically:
- No Personal Data: We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or user profiles.
- No File Storage: Files are never uploaded to any remote server or stored in the cloud. Data streams directly memory-to-memory between your browsers.
- No Tracking or Advertising IDs: No tracking SDKs, third-party analytics, or advertising identifiers are collected.
2. How Transfers Work
When you share a file, your browser establishes a direct, encrypted peer-to-peer connection with the recipient device over your local Wi-Fi. The temporary 4-digit pairing code is used solely to coordinate the local connection handshake and expires immediately.
3. Device Permissions
LocalShare Web only requests browser access to the specific files you voluntarily choose to send through the file selector.
